Dead Simple - Peter James

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Detective Superintendent Roy Grace’s wife disappeared several years ago without a trace. Now Grace is asked by Ashley Harper to find her fiancΓ©e, missing three days before their wedding. Michael Harrison is a practical joker. But his friends have turned the table, taken him out, got him drunk and buried him in a coffin with an air tube. The joke goes pear shaped when the friends are killed in a car accident leaving Michael burried.

Grace discovers that the one man, his best man,  who ought to know Michael's whereabouts is saying nothing. But then, he has a lot to gain. Far more than anyone realizes.

This is g
ripping to say the very least. I couldn't put it down and continually telling my family what was going on.  Many twists and turns along the way.  With an incredible ending.
The good news is this is the first in a series, I have bought the next one already.

Highly recommend and if I could give 100⭐then I would.

London 2012 - What if? by Ian C.P. Irvine - Book 1 and 2

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh my goodness. What an amazing book. So well written. I literally couldn't put it down. Desperate to know what the outcome would be.
The story is a man who is suffering from amnesia and has a memory of his life but in the place he is in isn't the world he remembers.
Trying to find answers where the whole world seems to have changed beyond comprehension.
His father's love of him. Telling him to find the love he knows as his real life sends him to an old college professor to help with the unusual events.
The professor finds it all very exciting and goes out of his way to help James find his real world. Having to make a jump in time. Leads to a big decision.
Absolutely brilliant story line and so gripping. Can't wait to read the next two.
Addictive, thoroughly recommended. Well deserved 5*****

The Plantation by Chris Kuzneski

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One by one, in cities across America, people of all ages are being kidnapped from homes, cars and their lives.  These are planned and executed all in the name of revenge.

Ariane Walker was dragged from her flat leaving a puzzle with minimal pieces to find her. The police can't do much but her boyfriend Jonathan Payne has other ideas.

Jonathan Payne and his best friend David Jones, hunt to find her. What they find is the South's most violent secret.

This book is a pure page turner. And has you on the edge of your seat. I read it super fast through the need of finding out what is happening next. Amazing book.

Pick it up, you won't be able to put it down.

life and books

As I'm in the middle of  reading my next book I just wanted to write about the reasons I love books.

Life is hard, no matter who you talk to there are always, stress and worries. From the super rich to the very poor. Something we all have access to are books. Books are the ultimate therapy for your mind.  Teaching a child to read is a gift that we should all pass on to our children, family and friends.
When  I read I transport into the book, as if I'm part of the story. Feeling close to the characters and drinking it all in page by page.

When I was growing up all the books I read were girls horse books, written by the Pullein-Thompson girls and the Jill books by Ruby Ferguson. A favourite from my childhood was A pony to stay by Elizabeth Batt. My twin sister and I both lived for horses and this was the same through reading. In A pony to stay, Lal the girl had a yellow roll neck jumper to ride out in cross country and after that we had our Nana knit us both roll neck jumpers to wear when we were competing. This book was the life we dreamed about having, walking to the bottom of our garden and taking our pony for a ride before the rest of the family awake. Going on adventures and having fun.

Growing up with horses and books has to be the best childhood. Animals teach you to grow up with empathy towards people and treat people with care. Be mindful how others feel. Books can take you away from your worries, take you to a different world and give your mind a break from reality.

I now like the romantic, chick lit stuff, I love psychological thrillers and also every single book that Chris Kuzneski has written. http://chriskuzneski.com/ I have read a lot of great books.

I will write about the books I'm reading but if I don't think the book is a 4* or 5* then I won't  review them. I'm not here to say bad things about books. I'm here to celebrate all the amazing books there are out there.

The Break by Marian Keyes

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Marian Keyes at her very best. A book about a woman, 'Amy' who has a brief marriage to a footballer and they have a child. This marriage doesn't last but Hugh comes in to Amy's life and together they get married, have their own daughter. And also make their home to two other children not related to Hugh and bring them in to their family. The story revolves around Amy and how her career takes her to many interesting places. Amy meets a man who catches her eye and suddenly she feels like she is getting attention she isn't getting from Hugh. She doesn't do anything about her feelings but they are very much there.
Then out of the blue Hugh decides he wants to take 6 months out of their marriage. To find himself. Amy is devasted. The days to come bring laughter and tears. Amy demonstrates how life within marriage can get so automatic she wanted to bring some excitement back and feel young and wanted once again.
Brilliant book, feel good read and really makes you feel like you're living within the book itself.
Much deserved 5 Stars.

Say You're Sorry (Book One): A Gripping Crime Thriller (A DCI Campbell McKenzie Detective Conspiracy Thriller No 1) by Ian C.P. Irvine

⭐⭐⭐⭐

A crime thriller based in Scotland and a call centre in India.

The murder of a policeman leads the police to a well known crime lord. Framed by crime lord Tommy McNunn who wants to take over the whole of Scotland. The police investigation into what has happened to their colleague takes on a life of it's own when more and more people start dying.

Everything changes when Tommy accidentally drives in to a pensioners car (Jonathan) and refuses to apologise.

The story revolves around the insurance company who insure Tommy and the person he drove in to. On hearing the detail of the accident the insurance company employee David decides that he needs to do something to help this man get his precious car back and to make Tommy McNunn pay.

David is a cyber expert who takes control of every part of McNunn's life. Taking away everything little by little and all the time giving him many opportunities to say Sorry. McNunn a very stubborn, violent man who never apologises to anyone...

Lots of twists and turns. Shows us how the internet can be used to control lives and to the extent to where it can be

I don't think I'll ever forget to say sorry again.....

This is a two part story and you have to make sure you are somewhere that allows you to download the second book. I was away when I read this and it ended without me finding out what happened. I bought the second part as soon as I returned home and it didn't disappoint.

Ian C.P. Irvine has a group of books that are in two parts. Amazon Kindle allows you to download book 1 for free and if you enjoy it you just pay for book 2.
